NEW FANGLED WASTELAND

>> OTHER PROJECTS <<

Newfangled Wasteland is fast becoming the most talked about "supergroup" project in San Francisco. This all star line up was founded by guitarist Chris Haugen (Jambay, Melvin Seals), and features keyboardist Trevor Garrod (Tea Leaf Green), bassist Steve Adams (ALO, Big Light) and drummer Dave Brogan (ALO). Using the prolific span of Beck tunes as a point of departure, Newfangled Wasteland explores and stretches the material, and builds upon Beck's familiar hooks and grooves to create a fresh and original sound. Just clap your hands.

Trevor is in "New Fangled Wasteland" that started the show and he did some keys and vocals...there were more hours of collaborations involving ALO, Big Light, Eric McFadden, New Fangled Wasteland, and Trevor Garrod in various combos. Such as Big Light with Trevor sittin' in. There was a I'm Waiting For My Man in the middle after midnight, and eventually Willin' near the end after 3AM. McFadden and Trevor had their arms around each other's shoulders at one point. Reed and Scotty were out mostly early in this Gramble-show, Josh Reed and Scotty did not reappear later but Trevor stayed all night. This aftershow ended about 4am. I too am not the most familiar with too many Beck tunes, but it didn't matter. The ones I did recognize were done in the musicians' own style & fucking rocked. There was a good bit of dirty funk in there as well. The second set was great, & the place stayed packed until the end. Not a bad Tuesday!" CA - "Fantastic music, mind-blowing actually. I am not in anyway familiar with Beck so I had no idea what they were playing, plus something about Mojito's sound system makes it really hard to hear the lyrics. However, wow oh wow. The music just transported me, it was sooooo good. Reminded me of some of the late night Studio 352 jams and the drop-in whomever jams that they used to have at the 12Gs. Just amazing musicians making great sounding/feeling music. Lots of faces around. The place was packed. It's so good to be alive and hear this kind of thing."
